The 20th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Ukraine and India to be celebrated in Odessa

Today, on September 17, a musical evening dated for the 20th anniversary of Indo-Ukrainian diplomatic relations will be held in Odessa.

Today, on September 17, 2012, the 20th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Ukraine and India will be festively celebrated in Odessa.
The festivities will be held in Odessa’s Russian Drama Theater.


The celebration is organized by “India – Ukraine” Association and Indian Culture Society with the support of the Embassy of India in Ukraine.


The program of the evening includes:
- Festive part participated by the Indian Embassy Consul, ambassadors and consuls of foreign diplomatic representation offices in Odessa, Odessa City Council representatives;

- “Motherjane” band concert. Motherjane is an Indian rock band from Kochi, India, formed in 1996. They have released a total of two studio albums, and three singles. Since their formation, different styles like progressive rock and Carnatic music have influenced their music. The band’s “Insane Biography” was the only Indian album to be featured in the Asian Rock Rising Festival in Japan on November 1, 2003. The band also headlined Levi’s Great Indian Rock 2003. In 2008, Motherjane opened for Megadeth and Machine Head in Rock in India 2008, Bangalore and for Opeth in Saarang '08 at IIT Madras. Motherjane has been a frequent headliner of college rock festivals across India. Motherjane was ranked No. 1 in Rock Street Journal's bands of the decade in 2010. In the 2010 AVIMA Awards, Motherjane won the award for the Most Popular Act of Asia, and lead vocalist Suraj Mani was awarded Best Rock Vocalist. In the 2009 AVIMA Awards, Motherjane was awarded the Best Rock Act;

- Meeting with vivid dancing collectives of “Rusich” Russian National Community, “Romani Zora” Odessa Regional Romani (Gypsy) Community and Indian Dance ensembles.
