Odessa taking part in the International Touristic Exhibition in Berlin

Resume of the International ITB Berlin 2013 Touristic Exhibition – Odessa’s touristic potential presented. Picture Story.

International ITB Berlin 2013 Touristic Exhibition is one of the main events of the touristic business. It features over 180 countries this year.

On March 5, 2013, the official Opening Ceremony of ITB Berlin 2013 participated by the Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel took place. The next day, on March 6, the All-Ukrainian stand was introduced with the participation of State Resorts and Tourism Agency Director Yelena Shapovalova, Crimean Resorts and Tourism Minister Alexander Liyev, German International Cooperation Community (GIZ) Project Director Matthias Brandt.

On the first day of the exhibition, after the All-Ukrainian stand opening ceremony, Odessa became the first Ukrainian city to present its touristic potential. The live sculptures of Catherine II and Duke de Richelieu were especially popular among the guests of the exhibition.
Besides, Odessa delegation visited the “Danube Salon” reception having taken place on March 6, in the Embassy of Austria and Germany. The event was dedicated to developing the relationships between the countries that are the members of “Danube Competence Center” (DCC).

The International Tourism Bourse (ITB) is a unique track record, “made in Berlin”. From the first moderate beginnings with five participating countries in the context of an overseas-import trade show, worldwide success developed since 1966. Exhibition space grew from 580 square meters to 150,000 square meters today. The number of trade visitors rose to over 100,000 from initially 250. With a total of 180,000 visitors, who would like to see the offers of currently over 10,000 exhibitors, ITB Berlin today is a real show-piece of Messe Berlin – and has expanded towards Asia.

As a driving force in the travel industry, ITB Berlin gives important impulses to a continuously growing market. Exhibitor sales of about 6 billion Euro and an exhibitor satisfaction rate of 92 percent are evidence enough that supply and demand meet at the right place.

With more than 170,000 visitors, among these 108,000 trade visitors, and over 10,000 exhibitors from 180 countries ITB Berlin is the leading B2B-Platform of all tourism industry offers. In addition, the world’s largest tourism convention Market Trends & Innovations provides unique opportunities to benefit from the leading think tank of the global tourism industry. All levels of the value added chain are present: Tour operators, booking engines, destinations, airlines, and hotels right through to car rental companies.

Despite its size, ITB Berlin is clearly structured. ITB Berlin enjoys worldwide media recognition and offers comprehensive support for all marketing questions exhibitors might have. Finally, ITB Berlin is organized by an experienced exhibition management company, that successfully faces new aims and objectives again and again – namely the Messe Berlin.
