Odessa Zoo became the associated member of Eurasian Regional Association of Zoos and Aquariums

Odessa Zoo recognized as the associated member of Eurasian Regional  Association of Zoos and Aquariums at EARAZA’s annual conference in Czech Republic.

On May 26 – 31, 2013, the annual conference of Eurasian Regional Association of Zoos and Aquariums (EARAZA) was taking place in Brno City (Czech Republic).

On May 28, Odessa Zoo was accepted as an associated member, candidate into being a full member. Odessa Zoo was represented by its General Director Igor Byelyakov.

The Association’s focus is to provide leadership and support for zoos, aquariums, and partner organizations of the world in animal care and welfare, conservation of biodiversity, environmental education and global sustainability.

68 zoos from 14 world countries are the members of the Association.

For Odessa Zoo, being a member of EARAZA is a chance to take part in numerous international projects, animals exchange, participation in rare animals breeding and bringing them back into natural habitat grant programs.



Members of the World Association of Zoos and Aquariums include leading zoos and aquariums, and regional and national Associations of Zoos and Aquariums as well as some affiliate organizations, such as zoo veterinarians or zoo educators, from all around the world. Together they are 'United for Conservation'.

WAZA institutional members includes more than 250 zoos and aquaria, as well as about 25 regional associations. In addition, about 1300 zoos are linked to WAZA through membership in one of the regional or national association members, and more than 700 million visitors pass through these facilities each year.

All members of the WAZA network are obliged to comply with “WAZA's Code of Ethics and Animal Welfare”, adopted by WAZA in 2003.
