City electric transport being renewed in Odessa
Four more renewed trams were presented on December, 29.
This year, four new trams were purchased and seventy-five renewed with the support of Odessa mayoralty.
The municipality has great plans for the oncoming year as well.
The Program of city electric transport development for the year 2007 was considered at the executive committee session. This document stipulates for trolleys and trams modernization and new rolling-stock purchase: nine trams and five trolleys produced by the joint Ukrainian-Czech “TATRA-South” (“TATRA-Yug”) venture.
Nevertheless, according to Odessa city deputy mayor Vakhtangi Ubiria’s words, this will happen only in case of the deputies’ voting for the budget 2007 project having been offered at the nearest session. The financing range needed for electric transport renewal has already been stipulated.
One tram’s cost is approximately 1 mln. 85 th. UAH, while modernization process (including the new equipment) takes 600 th. UAH.
“Odessa City Electric Transport” communal establishment Director Valeriy Novikov told the journalists, that the tram modernization features control system renewal, new systems installations to save the electric energy. The trams’ looks will change for the better as well.
