Memory of the World War II victims’ honored in Odessa. Picture Story

On the anniversary of WW II start, flowers and wreaths were festively laid to the monument of the Unknown Sailor at Odessa’s Glory Alley. Picture Story.

On June 22, 2013, to honor the memory of the World War II victims, festive flowers and wraiths laying ceremony was held by the monument to the Unknown Sailor at the Glory Alley in Odessa Taras Shevchenko Park.

WW II veterans, municipal and regional authorities, representatives of the social organizations and military units took part in the ceremony.

The memory of the people having deceased during WW II was honored with a solemn Minute of Silence.

Wreaths and flowers have been laid into the water in the Black Sea yacht club water area, too.

In all the districts of Odessa, the State Banner of Ukraine has been lowered down, with sable ribbons on it.

Special events dedicated to the Day of Sorrow have been held in the city’s colleges, libraries, school camps and sports schools: thematic exhibitions, meetings with the veterans, visiting Odessa’s Heroic Defense Museum, classroom hours etc.
