Newcomers in Odessa Zoo

Indian porcupine, nutrias and nasuas came to Odessa Zoo from Kharkov.

Newcomers arrived to Odessa Zoo. They came from the Kharkov city Zoo. These are the Indian porcupine, nutrias and coon family animals.

The coon family animals
(nasuas) came from the faraway America. They’ve got fantastic energy and are always moving trying to sniff out something edible with their long nose.
Nutria, or a bog beaver, is a rodent. This type is wide-spread in the South American biotopes by the water. It feels itself well in the zoo and does amaze everybody with its bright-red teeth and beautiful shiny fur.

Indian porcupine is a rodent as well, and the largest one of the Europe and Asia. It’s extremely interesting with its appearance. It has a comb of thorny needles, and its tail is covered with needles as well. In case of danger, porcupine demonstrates its menacing weapon and wheezes and beats with its “tail rattle” in every way.
