«Mass-media and Cultural Heritage» seminar took place in Odessa

This year’s first seminar carried out by Odessa city council Information Dept was devoted to “Mass-media and Cultural Heritage” topic

This year’s first seminar carried out by Odessa city council Information dept on February, 20, in the network of mass-media support program was devoted to “Mass-media and Cultural Heritage” topic.
In opinion of Odessa city council Information Dept deputy head Yelena Varicheva, it’s a pity “culture” doesn’t really occupy the leading position among the community’s priorities. ”The young generation doesn’t imagine the substance of cultural heritage itself. Because of this, our seminar is aimed at getting the young journalists acquainted with this. Mass-media has to know the answer not only to “How to assist cultural heritage saving?” question but to “How not to hinder this process?” one”, said Yelena Varicheva.
Odessa Literature Museum leading methodologist Anna Misyuk took the floor before the participants of the seminars – and those were journalists, city council deputies and college students. In her opinion, it’s the mass-media who is to play the leading role in cultural heritage saving process, but is the one able to do it vice versa. “If the journalists don’t notice some topic, they assist its destruction and it disappears. I think that in our life it’s this way: if something’s not in the mass-media – it doesn’t exist at all. This can frighten – but it’s true”.
Anna Misyuk has been working in cultural heritage saving branch for already a long time and she’s sure the meeting with seminar participants is to assist this topic’s getting essential.
