The disciples of Odessa school number 121 took part in the Polish-German-Ukrainian project, dedicated to the memory of the tragic events of World War II. Photo

 

In June 2014, the disciples from , and participated in Polish-German-Ukrainian project, dedicated to the memory of the tragic events of World War II. The meeting took place in old-world polish city of Wielun . It was the city where the first German bombs fell, killing thousands of its inhabitants. Wielun was awarded the name of the "City of Peace and Unification."

The providers of the project set many important and urgent tasks such as integration of the European youth; formation of historical memory, development of tolerance; deepening knowledge of foreign languages​​; familiarization with the cultural and historical heritage of .

The providers prepared intensive program for the participants. At the first day of the project the disciplines took part at HAPPENING (theatrical performance with active participation of the audience), that was held in the city of Wielun nearby the monument to the “Everlasting love”.


The visit to the Auschwitz-Birkenau extermination camp ( Auschwitz ), where during the Great Patriotic War died from 1.5 to 4 million people, became for participants a difficult lesson of history.


Under the project, along with an extensive cultural and educational program, students had participated in recreational activities. The participants of the project were floated on rafts on the Dunajec river, walking in the mountains, and also had visited the water park and bowling. In addition, the children visited the world's oldest salt mine in Wieliczka, which is listed in the UNESCO World Heritage List, and visited the main center of pilgrimage and worship of the Virgin Mary, where is the famous icon of the Black Madonna..


Summing up the results, the participants unanimously came to the conclusion that tragic moments of common history have to consolidate nations and the youth must do everything not to permit the repetition of the terrible events.
