On the eve of celebrating the jubilee of Odessa, Odessa Film Studio invited for excursions. The tours were dedicated to the 220th anniversary of the city and to the 95th jubilee from founding the Studio which is also celebrated this year.
Odessa Film Studio has been founded in 1919 on the basis of private film studios. The first film studio, which began to work in Odessa, had the name "Mirograf." In 1912, the citizens of Odessa have watched the first feature film - crime drama "Odessa Catacombs".
At the studio worked the star of silent movies Vera Kholodnaya, started his career famous Ukrainian film director, writer and publicist Alexander Dovzhenko and many other famous actors. Odessa entered the biography of World Cinema with the film "Battleship Potemkin" by Eisenstein.
More than one hundred years ago at the studio was built the glass pavilion, where took place productions of films in natural lighting. About a year ago, the pavilion was restored and there was opened an updated art center named after Vera Kholodnaya, which has a unique function of panoramic projection with viewing angle of 360 degrees. The pavilion art center the guests were able to see a short film made for the anniversary of Odessa. The film tells about Odessa today, and about the events took place in our city in 1933. Stock footage of 1933 were found in the German archives and transferred to Odessa. After the screening of the film about 300 guests visited the Museum of Film Studio.
