Odessa writer Arkadiy Lvov celebrated his 80th birthday

The world famous Odessa writer, essayist, prose writer, “Freedom” radio station Russian and Ukrainian services’ thematic programs’ longstanding author Arkadiy Lvov celebrated his 80th birthday.

On March, 9, Eduard Gurvits congratulated the world famous Odessa writer, essayist, prose writer, “Freedom” radio station Russian and Ukrainian services’ thematic programs’ longstanding author Arkadiy Lvov with his 80th birthday.
Arkadiy Lvovich Lvov was born and brought up in Odessa’s Avchinnikovskiy lane. He graduated from Odessa University’s historical faculty.
He published his short stories in “Komsomolskaya Pravda” (“Komsomol Truth”) and “Znamya Kommunizma” (“Banner of Communism”) newspapers.
In 1966, he published his first book – “Crash of Patent” collected stories. He cooperated with “Nedelya” (“The Week”) and “Komsomolskaya Pravda” (“Komsomol Truth”) newspapers and “Sovremennik” (“Contemporary”) magazine.
As a result of political persecution, in 1976, he had to emigrate to the USA, where he continued working actively, teaching in prestigious universities and, of course, writing. From November, 30, 1976, his voice started sounding at “Freedom” radio. He was working for the Russian and Russian and Ukrainian editorial staff since he knew both the languages and the problems. During these years, the writer has been steadily working at “Freedom” radio and writing his stories, novels and short stories: he’s issued 8000 programs and a six-volume collection of his works.
His works feature a story “My Elder Brother Who Has Never Been”, collected stories “Big Sun of Odessa”, “Boulevard” etc. Lvov’s most famous work is his novel “The Yard” having been written in 1968 – 1972, published in French in 1979, in original in 1981 and excited contemporaries’ rapturous responses. In 2005, this novel’s continuation of “The Yard. Part III.” name was published in “Zakharov” publishing house.
