Celebration of Safer Internet Day in Odessa

Interesting events dedicated to the Safer Internet Day are held today for the young inhabitants of Odessa

Safer Internet Day 2015 is being celebrated today, Tuesday 10th February. The main purpose of event is to raise the level of knowledge of safe use of modern Internet resources at schools.

On this day, the Department of Education and Science of the Odessa City Council conduct a series of outreach activities at schools.

Thus, according to the schedule meetings of students, parents and teachers with representatives of the Odessa National Academy of Telecommunications on safe use of online technologies are held today.



Every year young people use the Internet more and more in everyday life. The Internet offers children and young people great opportunities for discovery, communication and creativity. However, since from the beginning the Internet was developed without any control, today it contains a huge amount of information and it is not always safe.
Globally, Safer Internet Day is celebrated in over a hundred countries, coordinated by the joint network, with the support of the European Commission, and 31 national Safer Internet Centres across Europe.

The day offers the opportunity to highlight positive uses of technology and to explore the role we all play in helping to create a better and safer online community. It calls upon young people, parents, carers, teachers, social workers, law enforcement, companies, policymakers, and wider, to join together in helping to create a better internet.
