The Day of sister cities was held in Odessa

Odessa schoolchildren attended the meeting devoted to the anniversaries of Odessa's relations with sister cities of Warsaw, Regensburg, Baltimore and Yokohama within the Day’s of sister cities celebration

The last Sunday of April was the World Day of sister cities.

On April 24, 2015 in Odessa City Library named after Franko was held celebration of the Day of sister cities. This year Odessa marks four anniversaries of twinning and partnerships with cities: Warsaw - 5 years, Regensburg - 25 years, Baltimore - 40 years and Yokohama - 50 years.
Honorary guests of the event were representatives of the diplomatic corps: Consul General of Poland in Odessa Dariusz Szewczyk and the Consul of the Republic of Poland in Odessa Petr Sebeneyhen, Consul of the US Embassy in Ukraine, Jeremy Little; Representatives of the Honorary Consulate of Germany in Odessa; Chairman of the Polish society "Polish note" Eugene Fedchishin; representatives of the German cultural center "Bavarian House Odessa", teachers of ONU named after Mechnikov and the representatives of the Department of International Relations and the Department of Education and Science of the Odessa City Council.

This day Odessa schoolchildren came in the library to learn about the history, culture and architecture of sister cities: Warsaw, Regensburg, Baltimore and Yokohama. The maim purpose of twinning: the expansion of friendly relations between the people of cities, the development of economic relations, and the deepening of cultural relations.
Friendly relations of cities with common historical destiny, play an important role in consolidation of peace, harmony and mutual understanding. The children watched documentaries about these four sister cities and learned a lot of new and interesting information.
