International competitions on applied fire sports in memory of firemen heroes of Chernobyl are held in Odessa

The Mayor of Odessa Gennadiy Trukhanov took part in the opening ceremony of the XXVIII International competitions in applied fire sports in memory of firemen heroes of Chernobyl. Picture story

On 21th of May 2015, at Odessa stadium "Dynamo" was held the opening of the XXVIII International competitions in applied fire sports in memory of firemen heroes of Chernobyl. The competition involved 15 teams from Poland, Estonia, Moldova, Lithuania and Ukraine.

At the opening ceremony of the competition was attended by the newly appointed head of the Ukrainian State Service for Emergency Situations, the Mayor of Odessa, the heads of State Emergency Service of Ukraine in Odessa region, law enforcement officials, representatives of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, veterans SESU veterans and clergy. At the opening ceremony were also present 8 members of the families of liquidators of the Chernobyl disaster. The memory of firemen who died during performance of their duty in Chernobyl honored with a minute of silence. Then was held the flowers laying ceremony to the Memorial accompanied with mourning fireworks.

Addressing to the audience, the mayor of Odessa Gennadiy Trukhanov noted the importance of international competitions, which allow learning the experience of emergencies in the other countries.
