Memorial to St. Cyril and St. Mefodiy presented in Odessa

On May, 26, on the eve of Slavic Culture and Literacy Day, a bronze memorial to St. Cyril and St. Mefodiy was presented in from of Odessa I.I. Mechnikov National University’s Humanities Building. PHOTO

On the eve of Slavic Culture and Literacy Day, Bulgarian “Prista Oil” company made a present to Odessa – a memorial to St. Cyril and St. Mefodiy was installed on front of Odessa I.I. Mechnikov National University’s Humanities Building.
The bronze likenesses of Cyril and Mefodiy were made by Valentin Vasilev who won the competition having been announced by “Prista Oil” the last year. The sculptor is the “Oscar” bearer having been nominated for special visual effects in “Titanic” movie.

The memorial’s festive opening took place on May, 26, and was visited by Bulgarian Deputy prime-Minister and Education Minister Daniel Vylchev, Odessa Regional State Administration Deputy Head Boris Zvyagintsev, Consul General of Bulgaria in Odessa Dimitar Tuchkov, Odessa Regional Council Anton Kisse, Odessa I.I. Mechnikov National University Rector Valentin Smyntyna.
