Festive events took place in Odessa on occasion of the 71st anniversary of the victory over Nazism in World War II. Picture story

The 71st anniversary of the victory over Nazism in World War II was celebrated in Odessa on 9th of May 2016. Festive events were started with laying wreaths and flowers at the monument to Unknown Sailor on the Walk of Fame in Taras Shevchenko’s park. In the Odessa bay were lowered wreaths in honor of the heroes who gave their lives for the freedom of our motherland from Nazi invaders.

Flowers and wreaths were also laid to the stele "Wings of Victory" in memory of the victims.

The event was attended by the mayor of Odessa Gennadiy Trukhanov, veterans of the World War II, representatives and deputies of Odessa City Council, the military forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the clergy and public.

On that day retro cars and bikers rallies took place in Odessa in honor of the Victory Day.
