Odessa City Malinovskiy District Court passed sentence on the ones having desecrated graves at the Third Jewish Cemetery

Odessa City Malinovskiy District Court sentenced the three persons having been pleaded guilty of desecrating the graves at the Third Jewish Cemetery and the Memorial to Holocaust victims to 2 years imprisonment.

Odessa City Malinovskiy District Court sentenced the three persons having been pleaded guilty of desecrating the graves at the Third Jewish Cemetery and the Memorial to Holocaust victims to 2 years imprisonment. This was announced on August, 10, by Odessa Regional Public Prosecutor’s Office press-secretary Nikolay Mulyar. According to his words, the Court pleaded the prisoners at bar guilty according to the article # 297 of Ukraine’s Criminal Code (graves desecrating) having excluded the article concerning the international
strife kindling from the indictment.
The two of them are sentenced to 2 years imprisonment, and the third one is condemned to the same term, but is put on probation with 1 year of probation period. Besides, the Court obliged the condemned to pay out the costs of expertise carrying out in UAH 15 169 size. The inquest has been carried out by the Municipal Public Prosecutor’s Office having also been the prosecutor in the court.
In February, the unknown ones desecrated over 300 graves at the Third Jewish cemetery and two memorials to Holocaust victims in Odessa. Swastikas have been painted on the gravestones at the cemetery and on the memorial to Holocaust victims situated at Tolbukhin square.
Later, the Criminal Investigation Dept workers detained standing two citizens of Odessa aged 25 and the student of one of Odessa’s colleges aged 20 on suspicion of this crime. In July, the Municipal Public Prosecutor’s Office directed the criminal case to court.
